OK, it’s Saturday morning and we’ve just got up, Eloise is all dressed ready for her expedition to Lake Brunner! We can’t book into the holiday cottage until 2pm, so we’re going to head off around 11.30am, have a bite to eat at The Station House Cafe near the lake an
d then go for a quick walk.
So after our yummy lunch and walk we headed off to the holiday cottage. The lake is about 2km down the road, so not far to travel. I think there are about eight cottages on this site and at the moment we are the only people here, so nice and quiet!
The weather is really lovely and we spent the afternoon sunbathing on the deck and just chilling out enjoying the nice weather and supping on some cold beers!
We even had a visit from a little weka that was hiding in the bush by the deck!
Later on, we had a BBQ and Eloise waited on the swings whilst the sausages were cooking!
Sunday morning and the weather has turned grey and overcast. We decided to get up and go for a walk after breakfast.
It was quite chilly outside, but we enjoyed the walk and took some nice photos.
We saw loads of eels and a few trout when we crossed the footbridge at Lake Brunner!
The weather this afternoon hasn’t been very good, so we’ve basically just been chilling out back at the cottage, snoozing, reading and watching DVD’s!
We have to book out by 10am tomorrow, so we’ll get up early and then we plan to stop at Carew Falls on the way back to Greymouth to go for a walk. It’s been a great weekend even with all the disruption with the accommodation. Noses back to the grindstone on Tuesday!
PS. Our clocks went back an hour last night.
