Cottage at 9 Mile Beach

Posted by on 4 April 2011

In the previous 9 Mile Beach post I mentioned that Jill Cotton was going to let us have her friends holiday home for a long weekend.  We arrived there on Friday lunchtime and unpacked everything.  It was a really lovely cottage, with sea views and just a short distance to the beach.  We were really looking forward to the weekend here and spending some family time together.  We had a nice lunch with Greg’s mom at the cottage and when Greg got back from dropping Linda home, we had coffee and cake in the garden.

The inside of the cottage has been renovated to a high standard and each room was really lovely.

Some photos below to show you the inside of the property!

After we had our coffee we decided to head down to the beach with Eloise.

I bought her an inflatable rubber ring to use in the water, so she was very excited about that!

Greg had the lovely job of blowing the rubber ring up first!

They both waded into the water, which was freezing by the way.  I decided to stay on shore and take photos!!!

Eloise thought it was great, although her backside was getting very cold from the water!

Greg found her a couple of sticks to use as paddles and then left her to it!

We had an awesome time at the beach and Eloise loved paddling in the water.

We packed up and headed back to the cottage for a BBQ.

When we got to the car there was a note on the windscreen.  Greg’s dad had found our car and left a note to say the owners of the cottage who live in Australia had phoned to say they were coming over this weekend.

We were gutted and Eloise was really upset because we had to basically pack up and ship out on Friday evening.

We all felt very deflated as we headed back to Greymouth as we were so looking forward to the weekend away.  We got back to Greg’s parents and decided we would stay there Friday evening and book somewhere else to stay for Saturday and Sunday.  After some deliberation as to where we were going to stay, we decided to make a booking at a holiday cottage near Lake Brunner.  Saturday morning, we packed everything back into the car again and headed over to the holiday cottage.  See our next post about the rest of this weekend……………
