Fungus

Yesterday evening we went for a walk to Coal Creek Falls. It’s an easy forested walk near Runanga that we’d not done previously. It should be an hour return but because we stopped to photograph all the interesting mushrooms, it was more like a 2.5hr return!

Edit: as Sarah rightly pointed out, displaying 23 mushroom photos in this post makes for a lot of scrolling, so I’ve trimmed it down to just a few of the more interesting mushrooms:

P3090243 (Small) P3090247 (Small)
Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria). Sky-blue mushroom (Entoloma hochstetteri)
P3090263 (Small) P3090267 (Small)
Looks like early stage Fly Agaric but growing on rotting timber. Don’t know this one. Possibly
Chalciporus piperatus (closely linked to Fly Agaric) – alternatively Hohenbuehelia podocarpinea with stem attached to side of cap.
P3090312 (Small)
Earthstar (Geastrum)

Autumn must be around the corner. Now to find some truffles Smile
