Hi every
one, thought I would carry on blogging about our South Island trip otherwise it all builds up if I don’t keep on top of it!! Although Greg has just served me with a double vodka and lemonade so excuse me if I babble on a bit!
Following our visit to Queenstown we travelled on to Wanaka, this was a lov
ely little place situated on a massive lake. Very, very laid back, even the ducks are horizontal! We had a walk around the shops, I bought a couple of ‘t’ shirts and Eloise bought a new journal. We passed a guy selling fresh cherries, they were huge, so we bought a 1lb of those to eat in the car on our journey to Franz Joseph la
ter.
We decided to have some lunch on the lakeside and Eloise enjoyed feeding the ducks and believe me, they were hungry little suckers, they soon came running when they saw that Eloise had some bread!
This is Eloise standing inside a giant hand sculpture!
There were some boat trips taking place on the lake and you can also book to do a jet boat trip, which I believe is very scary and exhilarating at the same time. Maybe on our next visit!
Below are a few more photos from our pit stop at Wanaka including a few photos of Lake Hawea – one of many stunning bodies of water making up the southern lakes region. We even found a ‘Bullock Bar’ !!!!
Next stop the Salmon Cafe on the way to Franz Joseph……..
