Welcome to the start of our walk to Point Elizabeth.

As the weather was a bit miserable today, Eloise and Amelia opted to stay at the house to play on the computer whilst myself and Greg decided to go for a walk to Point Elizabeth.  P2060114 (Small)Just a short car ride from Greymouth, through Cobden and you are there.

Not many people out and about today, there were just two other cars on the car park and the beach was empty.  Although drizzling with rain it was quite humid and once we got going I regretted putting on my waterproof ski jacket!!

Even in bad weather the scenery is really beautiful and the mist hovering around the top of the mountains looks awesome.  P2060138 (Small)The walk was lovely, lots of ups and downs, loads of different plants and trees to see and very noisy from all the insects! Check out this cicada insect that Greg caught! P2060169 (Small)

It was nice and warm at the Lookout, so we sat down on the bench and just enjoyed the view for a while.

We passed several people out jogging or walking, seems like a very popular spot.  We’ll have to give it a try once we’ve built up our fitness levels!!! Yeah right………

A few more photos that we took along the way, hope you enjoy them!

Eloise is starting her home schooling tomorrow, so we’ll be heading off to the library late morning to do some maths and english and we might head down to the local swimming pool in the afternoon to check it out.

Next weekend we’re driving over to Akaroa near Christchurch and then the three of us are doing a whistle stop tour around the bottom half of South Island, leaving Akaroa on Sunday morning, stopping at Timaru, Dunedin, Queenstown, Franz Joseph and then back to Greymouth.  I’m sure I’ll write more before we go, so check in again if you get time!!
