The weather in Greymouth this morning was exactly that, ‘Grey’!! With the mist rolling in from the sea and a fine drizzle in the air we thought we would take a drive over to Moana and
Lake Brunner.
As we got nearer to Lake Brunner, the rain stopped and the sun came out.
Mmmm, seems to be a pattern forming here!! If the weather is bad, drive 30 minutes in any direction out of Greymouth, the rain will stop and the sun will come out!! Just kidding of course, but the weather is being a bit random at the moment. Lucky for us it has worked in our favour again today!
Eloise’s friend Amelia joined us today and the two girls loved it in the forest and down by the lake. We wanted to go down to the lake to try out the rope swing, unfortunately another family had beaten us to it, so the girls had to settle for a little paddle in the water instead.![]()
We had to cross the suspension bridge to get over to the other side of the lake.
You can just make out Eloise and Amelia as they reach the other side. I remember this bridge from our last visit, Greg thought it would be funny to jump around on it when I got to the middle, I still need to get him back for that!!
After the kids had a dip in the lake we split up for a while. Greg’s parents headed back towards the boat jetty whilst we took the two girls for another walk through the forest. When we got back to the jetty there was a small boat coming towards us which had a couple of dogs in it, the one at the front of the boat was really cute. It’s hard to make out in the photograph to the left, click on the photo to enlarge!
Linda, Ashley and Greg with Eloise above and then I jumped into the photo with Amelia.
The views from the jetty were awesome!
Next stop was the Station House Cafe. We visited this restaurant for a meal when we stayed at Lake Brunner on our first trip to New Zealand. The food was excellent, so we couldn’t wait to get back there to sample some more goodies!!
I had a gourmet cajun chicken burger, check it out!!
Greg had a gourmet beef burger with fries and a beer to wash it all down with.
Ashley had a venison burger and Linda had a Thai Chicken Curry with Prawns and Gourmet Mushrooms and both Eloise and Amelia had Chicken and Fries washed down with a Caramel Sundae!
Dare I say it, we also shared a huge piece of passion fruit cheesecake which came with fresh cream and chocolate.
Oh dear, it’s going to take a few more walks on the beach to get that off my thighs!!
We’ve had a great afternoon, the weather has been hot and sunny, the food awesome and the scenery breathtaking.
Hopefully we’ll be making a few more trips back here with Greg’s parents in the future, it really is a beautiful place.
Cheerio guys, wish you were here! xx
