It was a long driv
e down to Dunedin and we had been on the road since 9:00am, we finally arrived at 5:30pm.
We had booked a motel that we found in the AA Guide and not knowing Dunedin we didn’t realise that the motel was in the University end of the city. The area was pretty run down to be honest, lots of student houses which looked as if they were about to fall down at any minute, KFC and McDonalds around the corner, I’m sure you get my drift!
Anyway, w
e took our bags in and then went for a walk to the city centre.
We were pretty tired at this stage and once we reached the Octagon at the city centre we all needed to have a sit down.
There were some nice buildings around the city centre, but on the whole it wasn’t my cup of tea. Here are a few more photos of the nice bits!
Included in the nice bits are the Chinese Gardens and the Otago Museum. We took loads of photos at these two places so I’ve done separate blogs on those. Before we left Dunedin we went a ride around the peninsula to a place called Portobello. There were some really stunning views from the roadside and the city of Dunedin looked very pretty from a distance! Below are a few photos we took along the way.
