With Art in the Park art festival approaching on the 5th March it has been all hands to the pump. Some of the men and women have volunteered to help build display stands for the art work. They usually use deer gates which are hired from a company in Christchurch but with the Earthquake these are no longer available.
This could have been such a disaster if it wasn’t for Greg and Ashley’s quick thinking. They’ve really pulled together and with the help of some willing volunteers they have been busy all weekend building display stands for Art in the Park.
Luckily, Shantytown let them use one of their big sheds to store the materials in and this is where they set up their little production line on Saturday morning. A lady called Karen was also working flat out yesterday, but unfortunately she wasn’t there when I took this photo on Sunday morning.

Everyone has been working so hard and if it wasn’t for these guys, the artists wouldn’t have had anywhere to hang their paintings next weekend.
There is still a lot of work to do, but here a couple more photos to give you an indication of how many boards they have put together so far.
I think they have to do 100 of these boards, which are double-sided. So hats off to them, they are doing a grand job!
Great work guys.. Keep it up. And send our love to Linda. Glad everyone is ok..
