Akaroa–The Giants House

Posted by on 12 February 2011

WOW!  Where to start!  This place was absolutely beautiful, beyond our expectations.  We arrived dead on opening time so we were the first people into the gardens. P2110073 (Small)There was a really steep driveway leading uP2110095 (Small)p to the Giants House, who would’ve guessed what would be waiting for us at the top of the hill!

The house is owned by an artist called Josie Martin, check out her website at www.linton.co.nz.  The whole garden is made up from mosaic sculptures, fountains and mosaic pathways, it really was awesome.  The garden was in full bloom, the house was brightly painted and the whole place was a feast for the eyes.

We got to meet Josie in her art gallery, Greg helped her to hang one of the pictures that had fallen off the wall!  She’s quite eccentric, electric blue hair peeping out from underneath her hat and very funky clothes and shoes!

I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking because we took so many!!

There are so many more photos of the sculptures but I might crash the server, hope you enjoy the ones I’ve posted.  This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Akaroa and we can’t wait to go back there.
